Bear teaches the need for introspection and its purpose. To accomplish goals and dreams and to digest the truths you've learned introspection is necessary. Bear teaches you to a tune yourself to the energies of the Earth and receive nourishment from the Great Void. The Great Void is the place where all solutions and answers live in harmony with the questions that fill our realities. Bear teaches you to quiet your mind, enter the silence and know.

The Dream Lodge is where the death of the illusion of physical reality overlays the expansiveness of eternity. It is there that your ancestors can advise you regarding

alternative pathways. It is this energy that allows visionaries, mystics and shamans to prophesy. Bear medicine teaches you to walk the path of silence, calming the internal chatter, reaching the place of rites of passage, and leads you to the pathway of the imagination or the consciousness.

In some traditions bear is the spirit keeper of the West; the place of maturity and good harvest. Unlike other animals who are active during a specific time of day, the bear is active both day and night. This symbolizes its connection with solar energy, that of strength and power, and lunar energy, that of intuition. It enhances and teaches those with this totem how to develop both within themselves. Bear can sometimes be too quick to anger and too sure of it own power. While they have little to fear they can forget caution, which is an important trait to have. If bear is your totem be careful that you don't throw your caution to the wind. Being unaware of your limits in certain settings can be disastrous.

If Bear is your Medicine or Totem Animal, you might want to investigate the different bears to see which one speaks you more or for lessons to be learned from them.
