Spells for the First of the Month

Being the first of the month, I thought it would be a good day to talk about some of the things today (or the first of any month) is good for. Today is the first, and the month is growing from here, so today is the day to plant seeds that you wish to see grow over the coming weeks. This is not an ideal day for banishment, it is better for protection, abundance, etc. With that said, let's get into it.

Blowing Cinnamon: This one is all over Facebook, Tiktok, and Instagram, but do you know what you are actually doing? It's really quite simple- Cinnamon is an herb of prosperity, growth, and abundance, and getting it fast. So by blowing cinnamon through the doorway, you are inviting this energy into your life. The process is simple: On the first of the month, take a small pinch of ground cinnamon to the front door. Stand outside, facing into your house, and hold the cinnamon, praying your intention into it. It doesn't have to be anything special, just a simple prayer. Something like, "Bring abundance into this door as you enter" or something along those lines. Then, blow the cinnamon into your home. Let it sit for a day before sweeping it up.

Protection: This one is a bit simpler. The first of the month is a great day to refresh your house protections. This doesn't have to be anything special. On the first, take Cascarilla, Black Salt, Sea Salt, Red Brick Dust, or some other protection powder, and mark your thresholds with it. Or, you could wash your doorways with Moon Water, draw sigils on your doors and windows, or whatever other protection magick you like to employ.

Cleansing: It is a great day to do some cleansing. Again, this doesn't have to be a specific practice, just whatever you like to do. However, I recommend a complete cleansing: Open the windows to let out last month's air. Go through the house and spray Florida Water, smoke cleanse, sprinkle holy water, etc. When every room has been cleansed, close the windows and light a white candle in the center of the house to anchor the fresh energy.

Simple Money Bowl: Here's a little bonus. Today is a good day to make a money bowl. Start with a clean white, green, or gold bowl. Wash it with Florida water and smoke it with incense to remove any negative energy, then add in some prosperity ingredients. You will ultimately personalize this to your own practice, but for now, you can start with this list: Cinnamon for rapid money, Basil for financial stability, Bay leaves for manifestation, Mint for steady prosperity, Allspice for good luck, Nutmeg for general good luck but especially in gambling, Clover to open new opportunities, Rosemary to protect what you have, and Cloves to draw wealth and banish financial blocks. Add your herbs to a base of coarse sea salt, blend well, and add to the bowl. Then, top it with some coins, paper money, hell money, or joss paper. You can also stand cinnamon sticks up in your bowl for a more decorative feel, or finish it off with some money rice. At the end of the month, clean it all out so you can start again.
